Evaluation

In this project I was asked to produce a 3D room with a theme, I chose to do a baby girls room using a wide range of pink colours and baby objects to fill the room.
The room had to be completely made with 3D models and had to look realistic.

At first I was not sure if I was going to be able to make the products I wanted to make to go inside the room, I planned out in my sketchbook the ones I wanted to make and with some floor plans to show where I wanted them to be placed within the room.

My progress throughout the project was quite fast I thought that even though I did not believe at first that I would finish in time or if i could produce the models to a good enough standard the models was looking really good as I carried on producing and adding extra detail made it really enjoyable.

I think my weak areas were not being confidant enough in myself at the beginning and maybe if I had some extra time using it in my own time I might have been able to produce something more detailed and more realistic.
Another problem was when I was actually producing and then placing in my room I found it hard to make sure the models were placed properly for example if I had previously moved them or rotated them to work on a different area they might have been slightly off center making it harder to me to place them straight in.

My good points was that I believe I could make the products at a fast pace, leaving me with a lot of time to add more detail and materials to make the room and models look realistic.
I think one of my strong points is I am good at time management I know what I can produce and when I need to do it for I plan it out in my head and this makes it easier for me.
I was also asked as another task to make an extra model which was a teddy bear I did not think I would be able to create something that resembled a teddy bear but I did this an I am very happy that I finally believed in myself.

I think if I could do this project again I would try and test my self by doing something the complete opposite to a baby’s room and try something like a kitchen or a living area.
I would change little things about my current room for example the door I would like to produce a proper door an then put it in the room myself, this time round I made the door by using the surrounded area this I think is a weak point for me and would like to change it.

Over all I had really good fun doing this project and I would love to do it again, I think my fast time management would allow me to be able to make something good again.
I think it was very time consuming and enjoyable I think I produced the room to the best of my ability with the skills I had learnt and I would like to do it again if there was a option and try something completely different.

Progress

I have now rendered my room and took some pictures using the cameras, I think the project has been really good and gone really well for me, I now have to submit the work to Ben using various images and giving him the 3Ds max file that contains my room.

I am very happy with my room and what I have done with it in the time duration that we had to complete.

Further progress

Today I have finished off my design, I have made another model which was a teddy bear, i made this using a range of sphere shapes and squashed them down to make the body and head and ears, i then placed it in the cott which is in the room.

To finalise my room I had to add lighting and make sure that it looked good before rendering i added some Omni lights such as in the lamp stand and above the room where the ceiling would be.
I am currently in the process of rendering my room, after this is complete I will be able to take some shots of the room and hand in the project complete.

Progress- Peer evaluation

Peers were asked to evaulate others work, and give them some feedback towards their rooms.

My Feedback:
Peer1- said that they liked my wardrobe and cott, but I needed to change the wardrobes as they wasnt straight in line with the drawers., and also suggested that I round of some edges on my objects as them seem very square.

- I changed the wardrobe and made it on line with the other objects, I have also rounded edges off on certain objects to make them seem more realistic and not as square.

Peer2- Liked my models in general. but said i could add a bit more detail into the other objects for example like a certain chair I have made with different legs as a normal chair would have, also suggesting that I should go abit more wild with the designs as they seem very basic.

- I plan to add more character into my designs, by using some different techniques.

Peer3- Liked my toy box and my lamp placement, but thought a weakness was the same example as before about my wardrobe, and that I could chamfer the matress in the babies cot, to make it look more comfortable.

- I added a chamfer onto the matress and made it look more realistic.

Peer4-Liked my layout of the room and the colour technique I had used throughout the room, they had no weaknesses for me or suggestions.

Peer5- Liked the toybox and the crib, thought that I could use a bit more space within the room , but as I have not finished it wil be fuller. also thought that I could add some materials onto the models.

- I plan to use some of the excess space with other models, and I plan to add some materials at a later date.

progress

I have finished sketching my ideas, and started the production of my room, in this lesson I have created a wardrobe, chest of drawers, rocking chair, table and a cot. I have created these using some of the same materials. I used simple box shapes and then i inseted them to get the indent effect of the wood. I then coloured them accoridingly to my room which would be pink.

I have used the colour pink throughout the objects as it is a girls room and pink relates highly to little girls.
Next lesson I plan to make a few other objects such as the changing table, toy box.
I will plan the day out in the next blog post.

Next Lesson- i am writing on the same post as i would like most of my posts to be together, in this lesson i have produced the other objects that i explained in the post above, I used box shapes to maket he toybox and i used various boxs that i edited with vertex points and chamfer to smooth the edges of the boxs to make it more realistic.
Next lesson I plan to be finishing up my project adding some last minute things and making sure it looks good, i will then render the room and take some pictures for submitting.

I think my progress so far is really good I have been able to make the models very easily and quite fast this has helped me keep to the deadline and believe i will be finished in time and have a reasonably good room.

Progress

I have just assigned some lighting to the room , such as the lamp will have a certain light to like an direct one so that it just lights up the area around the lamp, where as the main light will be an omni light as this lights up most of the room.
I also want some light coming from the babies mobile, so I could use some direct lighting with different colours coming off it to make this effect.

I am also still collecting images as I go along with my planning, this will help keep all my ideas fresh so i have pictures of all the ideas i have had, I am also gathering pictures for a big mood board.

I think my progress is good, I am collecting lots of pictures of objects and my ideas are fresh in my mind I know what I want to do within the room, including colours, textures and lighting.
The lights it hink would work the best would be omni lights, one in the center of the room will light up the main aspects, one that would be placed in the lamp would light up the corner adding shadows to the models giving the room a more realistic feeling.

Progress

I have produced my research within my sketchbook , I have gathered a wide range of pictures of objects that I want to reflect within my room ones such as cots, mobiles, wardrobes, drawers and toy box, I have also gathered pictures of some colours that i would like to see within my room as it is a little girls room i gathered some pink tabs with different colour shades on them. I gathered some textures of wood I would like to use for the wooden object such as the cot and the flooring.

I have also produced a large moodboard to represent my ideas,it includes pictures of cots, teddies, changing tables, tables, chairs and other objects that I wanted to create.
i also included on the mood board some simple colour ways of the pinkish colours i decided to use within the room.
I have just started designing some floor plan layouts experimenting with the different places that the object could go to create the best effect within the room. This wil help me dipict where the lighting is best to go within my room.

I think my progress is good for the second session of planning work. I have a good idea of what I want to create.

Proposal

In this project I have to produce a room and 10 objects using 3Ds max, I have chosen to do a babies room this will include a babies cot, table, wardrobe, mobile, bean bag, rocking chair, lamp, changing table and a toy box all these things will be made in 3d.

I chose this idea because I don’t think any one else would have chosen it, I think it will be an individual idea and the furniture is relatively easy to create.
I plan to use my own ideas for the plan of them room as well as my own colour scheme I have also decided that I will do a baby girls room.

I am going to use the techniques I have been taught to make the models look realistic, by adding meshes, morphing shapes and adding textures, The reason I want to do this room is because I want to put my own stamp and use some fresh ideas to make a really groovy babies room.

The problems that may occur are ones such as software dysfunction, software could freeze making me loose time on my designing, other things such as loosing work or problems with the computers.

The things I could do to prevent this from happening are to make sure I save my work on a regular basis and back it up on either my laptop or a hard drive and get as much work done as possible while in college doing the work.

Another thing that could affect my work on this project is if I was to be off ill, but I have prepared myself for this by using a plan of time on what I am doing each lesson so if I was to miss a session then I would have a time slot to catch up.

By the end of the project I want to have made a fresh faced room with cool furniture that could represent a relaxing but fun baby’s room.
